Justice for George Floyd

Dear [Representative],

I am outraged and disturbed by the killing of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police Department officers.

For seven minutes, George Floyd and bystanders cried out and pleaded for his life as your officers choked him to death in broad daylight. This is an act of police violence committed on an innocent, unarmed Black man. No one deserves what happened to George, and it’s up to you to grant justice. I’m calling on you, to hold those four officers accountable Attorney General Ellison must immediately charge ALL four officers with murder. We’re counting on you to secure justice for his family.

The systemic racism pervasive in our police forces across the US needs to be addressed from the top down. There are far too many police on minority incidents of aggression and violence for us to continue to ignore this issue. We need you as a leader to take a stand on this issue and move us in a positive direction. We need retraining, we need community policing, we need partnership with the communities in which they work to make us all safer.

This is an issue that will show us who our true leaders are, and we’ll remember in November who stepped up in this crisis. Please do the right thing.
